Highways England is advising road users in the West Midlands to leave extra time for their journeys following a lorry fire on the M5 this afternoon.

the incident happened shortly after 3pm today (Wednesday) at junction 4 (Lydiate Ash) northbound.
Both the north and southbound carriageways are currently closed at the junction while emergency services deal with the fire.
Highways England emergency planning officer, Frank Bird, said: “We are working closely with the emergency services to assist them while they deal with the incident.
“As the fire is significant, we expect that the carriageway will need a detailed inspection and possible resurfacing work through the evening.”
